Sue James Clayworker

Sue has always liked to use a variety of construction methods when making her work, at the moment, currently working with the application of texture.

These pieces are slabed out using Porcelain clay, which is fired to 1260; Sue has used glazed and unglazed areas and the application of platinum onglaze as part of the textural, and visual, aspect of her work.

With inspiration from her beautiful flowering native garden, Sue is also taking cuttings from the garden and making small press clay moulds, using real blooms and leaves, she composes a small picture on the clay, then fires the little rounds and uses them to make the textured focal area of each piece.
