Pink Lady Apple

A piping hot crumble is a delicious winter warmer. This version uses pink lady apples, which hold their shape beautifully when cooked.

Pink Lady Crumble Recipe

Ingredients

150 grams butter, plus extra for greasing (Curds and Whey, Shop 12-13, Dairy Hall)
5 pink lady apples (The Fresh Pear Fruit Supply, Stall 20, B Shed)
½ cup caster sugar (Nut Trek, Shop 55-56, Dairy Hall)
30 grams ground cinnamon (Nut Trek, Shop 55-56, Dairy Hall)
1 cup plain flour (Nut Trek, Shop 55-56, Dairy Hall)
¾ cup brown sugar (Nut Trek, Shop 55-56, Dairy Hall)
¾ oats (Nut Trek, Shop 55-56, Dairy Hall)
1 tsp ground nutmeg (Nut Trek, Shop 55-56, Dairy Hall)
3 cloves (Nut Trek, Shop 55-56, Dairy Hall)
cream, to serve (Curds and Whey, Shop 12-13, Dairy Hall)

Method

Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease a baking dish with the butter.

Peel and core the apples, then roughly cut into bite-sized cubes.

Combine the apples with the caster sugar and 10 grams of the ground cinnamon and place in the baking dish.

In a bowl, combine the remaining cinnamon with the flour, brown sugar, oats, ground nutmeg and cloves, and mix well.

Melt the 150 grams of butter and stir through the crumble mixture, then evenly spread the mixture over the apples.

Bake for 35 minutes or until the crumble topping is golden brown.

Serve with a dollop of cream.
