Feijoa

A favourite of our New Zealand neighbours, feijoas have a fresh, fruity flavour with a slight tartness. They are also easy to prepare and very versatile. Simply halve, scoop the flesh out with a spoon and enjoy as it, or add feijoa pulp to a smoothie such as this one for a deliciously refreshing taste.

Feijoa and banana smoothie Recipe

Ingredients

2 feijoas, halved and flesh scooped out (Fruit & Veg Supply, Stalls 21-25, H Shed)
1 banana, peeled and chopped (Fruit & Veg Supply, Stalls 21-25, H Shed)
1½ cups milk (Market Organics, Stalls 46-55, I Shed)
¼ cup plain yoghurt (Market Organics, Stalls 46-55, I Shed)
1 tablespoon honey (Land of Soy and Honey, Shop 10-11, Dairy Hall)
1 egg (Farm Fresh Eggs, Stall 43-45, I Shed)
pinch cinnamon (Nut Trek, Shop 55-56, Dairy Hall)
¼ tsp freshly grated nutmeg (Nut Trek, Shop 55-56, Dairy Hall) ice

Method

Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.

Serve in glasses with an extra sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg, if desired.
