Wednesdays are about to warm up at the Queen Victoria Market. The Winter Night Market will extend across thirteen weeks this year, bringing the best of winter food, wine, design and entertainment to the Market every Wednesday night from 3 June – 26 August 2015.
Some of Melbourne’s hottest foodies, artisans and performers will once again cosy up under the historic sheds of the Vic Market for what is now a mid-week winter ritual. Visitors to the Night Market will be welcomed with crackling fires, mulled wine and a revolving line-up of roving entertainers, as well as a global feast with over 30 street vendors offering flavours from around the world.
Also new to The Winter Night Market line up this year is the Cheese & Wine Bar – a place to wind down and warm up over a big red and a platter of fine cheese. The Cheese & Wine Bar will be perfectly positioned next to the Night Market Cinema, an invitation to market-goers to settle in to a director’s chair and take in a fresh selection of short films each week.
A sizzling menu of new vendors are on the Winter bill, including Melbourne’s mushroom burger connoisseurs, Little Mushroom Co, the Texan flavours of Bluebonnet Barbecue, and the equally Southern and smoky styles of Burn City Smokers, along with the speed and spice of AutoRickshaw, Indian street food actually served out of a rickshaw, and the return of world-famous 400 Gradi, who has developed a new pizza flavor just for the Winter Market. Those looking for a hot drink to round out the evening should seek out a tipple with Those Girls who will have virgin hot apple cider to go, or check in to Little Creatures to survey their host of brews and share a chat with one of their beer experts.
Now in its fourth year, the Winter Night Market has really been embraced by Melburnians as a welcome addition to the winter calendar. They’ve loved experiencing a collection of the city’s best and most diverse food and cultural experiences and we think they’ll enjoy what we’ve created for this winter.
The Winter Night Market will again offer a selection of artisan wares from Melbourne craftspeople and designers. Top picks for visitors this season are imported vintage Japanese textiles from Itai Kimono, custom sterling silver, beaded and wood jewellery from Anastasia Collection, geometrically inspired art and homewares from Drunk on Water, and market fragrance favourites Green Candle Co.
Along with whimsical interruptions from stilt walkers, minute puppet shows and one-man-band Uptown Brown, there will be plenty to make the Winter Night Market a mid-week highlight.
