Melbourne High students dressed in Red Cross t-shirts for Red Cross Calling will help launch a Red Cross pop up shop at the Queen Victoria Market on Friday 13th March.
The pop up shop near the corner of Queen and Therry Streets will have a great selection of summer dresses, designer tops, handbags, jewellery and will be open from 9am to 3pm.
The Melbourne High students will gather at the Red Cross pop up shop before fanning out into the CBD and surrounding suburbs to shake their collection tins for Red Cross Calling.
Red Cross Shops Community Engagement Manager, Kate Dear says “Our Melbourne shop volunteers wanted to get involved with Red Cross Calling and they came up with this great idea of a pop up shop at the Queen Victoria Market.
“The involvement of schools like Melbourne High helps to introduce a whole new generation to the work of Red Cross. Red Cross Calling is the major annual fundraising appeal for Red Cross to support our everyday work.”
Red Cross helps reconnect families torn apart by war, assists older Australians live independently in their own homes, and provides clean water and sanitation for remote communities in the Asia-Pacific.
Last year Red Cross assisted more than 56,000 people affected by disasters and served over 800,000 meals to school children who might otherwise have gone to school hungry.
