The City of Melbourne has announced the largest investment in its history to preserve and renew Queen Victoria Market.
Before any renewal works take place, the City of Melbourne is working with the community to develop a shared vision for the market. This will lead to detailed plans, with projects to be staged over the next five to 10 years.
The first phase of community engagement took place in November 2013 with close to 1000 people joining the conversation about how to make the market even better, sharing what they love and value about the market and what could be improved and changed.
A report on the first phase of consultation is now available. The second phase of community engagement will take place this April when draft renewal concepts for the market and surrounding precinct is released for public feedback.

* The Queen Victoria Market renewal project is a major project for the City of Melbourne.
It will work closely with its subsidiary company Queen Victoria Market
through the renewal process. While the City of Melbourne will have ultimate responsibility for delivering the renewal project, the Board of Directors and management of Queen Victoria Market will play a key role and will continue to manage day to day operations of the market.
