For something more indulgent, take a bite of their delectable walnut and rum-soaked fruit version for a twist on Easter tradition.
Ferguson Plarre (Shop 77-80, Dairy Hall) are famous for their delicately spiced, 58 per cent fruit hot cross buns, which have won many awards for generosity of fruit and flavour. Ferguson Plarre’s buns are prepared according to a closely guarded family recipe. Their buns won the runners-up prize in the 2011 National Hot Cross Bun competition against hundreds of Australia’s best bakers.
At Cafe Verona (Vic Market Place Food Court), owner Joe Vitale bakes buns twice a day on the premises following a special family recipe. Joe serves his fluffy buns with lashings of butter and jam—great for a morning tea break while shopping at the Market.
