Australia’s Healthy Weight Week (AHWW) is coming up from 16-22 February 2015. Run by the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA), this important week is all about getting the right advice and support for those looking to be a healthy weight – and who isn’t? Carrying too much weight, especially around your waist, puts you at a higher risk of lifestyle-related conditions, such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease. But the good news is that losing just 5-10 per cent of your starting weight, or dropping a few centimetres from your waist, will benefit your health and wellbeing. Being a healthy weight helps you to feel your best – and it’s never too late to start!
Australia’s Healthy Weight Week is in February each year, an ideal time with many Australians aspiring to eat better in the New Year. In 2015, DAA wants to get more people cooking at home. Award-winning celebrity cook, Callum Hann, and Accredited Practising Dietitian, Themis Chryssidis (both from Sprout), are supporting the 2015 campaign and will be appearing at a AHWW event in the Queen Victoria Markets on Friday 20 February 2015. Callum and Themis will be doing a live cooking demonstration and will be joined by lots of other dietitians from across Melbourne to answer questions on healthy eating and healthy cooking.
