The Market is closed Mondays, Wednesdays and the following public holidays: Good Friday, Anzac Day, Melbourne Cup Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Market Car Park Hours of Operation
The Market car park is managed by CARE PARK and operates 7 days. Entry to the carpark is via Franklin or Queen Streets.
Monday to Friday 6am to 7pm
Saturday & Sunday 6am to 6pm
Parking Rates
Market Days
$5.00 for the first 2 hours, $3.00 per hour or part thereafter.
The maximum daily rate is $25.00.
Non Market Days (Monday & Wednesday)
$2.00 per hour with a daily maximum of $10.00.

- Weekdays (Monday to Friday) before 10am
Enter and Exit the car park before 10am and your parking is free.
- Fridays after 4pm
Enter the car park after 4pm and exit before 7pm and your parking
is free.
After Hours Exit Fee & Lost Tickets
Any cars left after closing hours will incur an additional $30.00 exit fee. To exit, contact Security 0414 550 451.
Lost tickets will incur the maximum fee.
Voucher Parking
Voucher parking is available. Voucher Parking enables customers to receive special rates on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The rate is $12 for all day parking. For more details, ask car park attendants or phone the car park on 03 9329 0482.
Public Transport
Getting here by tram:
Catch any tram heading north along Elizabeth and William Streets, and alight at either the Franklin or Victoria Street corners. For real time tram arrival information use tramTRACKER Melbourne's free City Circle tram will also help you on your way. Hop off at the corner of La Trobe and either Elizabeth or Queen Streets, then walk north to the Market.
Getting here by train:
The Market is within easy walking distance of Melbourne Central Station (Elizabeth Street exit) and Flagstaff Station (corner Latrobe and William Streets). Walk north along Elizabeth or William Street to reach the Market.
Getting here by bus:
Melbourne's buses travel along Queen, Lonsdale and La Trobe Streets. Alight on Queen Street, or on Lonsdale or La Trobe at the Queen or Elizabeth Street corners, and walk north to the Market.Or, ride the brand new free Melbourne City Tourist Shuttle, stopping at key tourist attractions and destinations in and around the City. The Market is stop number 5.
