Taste of Portugal is organised annually by the Portuguese speaking communities to coincide with the Portuguese National day. It is a cultural festival which celebrates Portuguese culture and showcases Portuguese cuisine, music and dance, history, language and tourism. The Festival unites all the Portuguese speaking communities, including Portugal, Brazil and East Timor, to celebrate historical ties.
The event caters for all ages with Portuguese street food, Brazilian delicacies and beverages available for purchase, Portuguese merchandise for sale, tourism and cultural displays, art and photographic exhibition, children’s activities (including puppet theatre, face painting, drawing competitions, art and craft and book readings), handcrafts demonstrations, samba dance classes, and a diverse entertainment program with music and dance.
At Taste of Portugal you can savour a Portuguese custard tart, purchase colourful Portuguese ceramics, jewellery and handbags, dance to Brazilian rhythms, listen to traditional Portuguese Fado singers, learn about the tourism spots of Portugal or find out where to learn the Portuguese language. A day of fun, food and entertainment Portuguese-style!
