Anna Burley has been working at the Market for over 42 years, taking the reigns of Curds & Whey in 1997 she now runs the shop with her son, Robert.
What is your product?
Curds and Whey (established in 1997) specialises in fine local and imported cheeses. We encourage and support small local producers via our cheese selection and our shelf lines.
What is your stand-out/favourite item you sell?
Everyone recognises Curds and Whey for the large blocks of butter we sell (absolutely delicious!). My personal favourites are the beautiful local hand made cheeses we sell. In spring and summer the Woodside Rubi ( a beautiful soft goats cheese with edible flowers is a stand out). I also love our amazing range of hard raw milk cheeses.
How long have you been trading at the Market?
I have been in the market for 42 years and have owned and operated Curds and Whey for 17 years.
What do you love most about market life?
What I enjoy most about market life is the interaction with my customers. They are loyal, very friendly and value our expertise and are consequently always willing to try new produce.
As a creative stallholder at the Market, where do you get your inspiration from?
My initial inspiration and passion came from my own love of good food. Our wonderful local cheesemakers and producers continually inspire me with their passion and new produce. In recent years my son Robert has been a great source of inspiration taking our business to a new level and continually searching for new and exciting produce.
Where are your favourite places to shop at the Market?
I love the produce in my shop and take things home every day.
