Launch of Variety Entertainers of the Century Painting

Recent visitors to the Market may have noticed a new face in the Food Court—or rather, 100 new faces. The Variety Entertainers of the Century painting was officially launched last week in it’s new home the Queen Victoria Market’s Food Court. The painting is a lasting memorial to iconic Australian actors, comedians, singers and dancers who have been inspiring, delighting and entertaining generations of Australians for more than a century.’20140326_SDP_0018

Commissioned by Variety, the Children’s Charity Victoria, the six-metre long painting was created by Jamie Cooper and features 100 years’ worth of famous Aussie faces, from golden oldies, such as Bud Tingwell, Slim Dusty and Errol Flynn, to current favourites like Cate Blanchett, Dame Edna Everage, Hugh Jackman and Kylie Minogue.
