Spice Trade Expression of Interest

Spice Trade will be a food based festival with  Spice as the central theme. Encompassing cuisine from the Silk Road spice trade route between the historical civilizations of Asia, Northeast Africa, Europe and the Middle East  the event  will  focus on  comforting, spicy Autumn/ Winter fare. When applying think ‘cinnamon, cassia, cardamom, ginger, pepper, turmeric and incense. The fragrant smells,  lively music and exotic activations will give customers a market bazaar experience and we will be asking your stalls to reflect this theme.

Event Fees
Food Vendors Site Fees: $330 (6 x 3 meter) or $250 (3 x 3  meter) per day including GST.

The licensee is required to pay the prescribed fee for any stall occupied. Season fees must be paid in advance by direct debit. Late payment of fees may result in withdrawal of the License offer or interest being charged. Queen Victoria Market Pty Ltd requires, as part of the process, that the successful applicants complete the “Authority to Deduct” fee form as attached to the Licence Agreement.

Selection Criteria

The selection criteria, which will be considered in the assessment of applications for Spice Trade are summarised below:

  • The types of food product, including the unusual and unique nature of the product, points of
    difference to like uses, compatibility with theme/focus of the event.
  • The stall/site set-up, including attention to aesthetics and any physical constraints.
  • The Applicant’s retail and business experience and financial situation.
  • Flexibility and ability to fit in with other stallholders and to work with Queen Victoria Market
    management, and any other matter considered relevant to the application.
  • Seasonal Victorian Product sourced from the Market and associated story behind the ingredients

The sequence of the above criteria does not imply any relative priority. Furthermore these are not the only criteria upon which the assessment of applications is made.

Privacy Act 1998

The Company will not be evaluating any application for the purpose of entering legal relations. Legal relations will only be contemplated if and when the successful applicant signs a Licence prepared by the Company. The Company reserves the right to act as it sees fit after considering applications
received. And will not provide feedback to unsuccessful applicants .

The collection of your personal information is required in order to administer your stall application or licence.  If your  personal information is not able to be collected, then we may not be able to progress your application or administer your licence.

QVM collects, uses, holds and discloses personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).  Your personal information will only be disclosed in limited circumstances, and generally only for the purpose for which it was collected, or otherwise as required or authorised by law.  It may be disclosed to provide a reference for you to other landlords or their agents in respect of future tenancies, and to QVM’s legal advisors where required.  Your name and contact details, and stall location may also be disclosed to members of the public for the purposes of promoting QVM and its activities.

Further information about how QVM manages your personal information, how you can access and correct your personal information, and how you can make a complaint about a privacy breach, is contained in the comprehensive QVM Privacy Policy, which is available to the public on our website, or by contacting our Privacy Officer.

The Queen Victoria Market will not be evaluating any application for the purpose of entering legal relations. A legal relationship will only be contemplated if and when the  successful applicant signs a formal letter of acceptance prepared by the Company.  The Company reserves the right to act as it sees fit after considering applications received and will not provide feedback to unsuccessful applicants.

The decision of the selection panel is final and is not open to appeal.
